Safety Compliance can be a very profitable opportunity for employers.

Finally some good news for employers when it comes to Safety Compliance. The good news is that not only can you save lives, but you can save money too. If you are like most employers today you are fed up with all the the new areas of compliance or maybe worse yet you are not even aware of all the the new areas of compliance.

Maybe you have heard that Cal-Osha and Osha have stepped up their enforcement procedures and if you have not heard I have news for you they have. The fines are higher than I have ever seen, and I have been doing this since 1997. As I have said before Cal-Osha no longer wants to see all of your good intentions written up as policies in a binder. Today that want to see action, they want you to be doing what you have written in your Safety Program.

What they want is a Safety Compliance Program that has some teeth to and they want you to be enforcing the policies that you have written out. The good news is this when a company takes the time to create a such an environment there is now a way to get rewarded for doing so. Allow me to explain. A couple of years ago Cestoday saw all of this coming down the road and so we warned our members but we wanted to do more. After spending much time talking with enforcement officers as well as the people that work on the Cal-Osha consulting side we came up with a program that will create a solid and defendable platform when it comes to Safety Compliance.

At first I did not want to do it because I would have to charge for it, and then one of the Cal-Osha people that I was talking to about this program told me the following. He said,”This is something that you need to do because we will write the fines is employers are not in compliance. But here is the good news, if your clients do this they can ask their workers compensation carrier to review their ex-mod status and being able to prove that they have now hired a Safety Consultant for the purpose of creating a real atmosphere that contributes to the Safety Compliance of your company. Having a good Safety Workplace mindset will cut down on workplace hazardous and maybe even save lives will actually turn all of this into an investment.”

Now I can’t guarantee you that this will work this way for you because, their are too many things I don’t know about your company’s safety record, but every one of my clients that have made this move, have made more money than the program costs so it may be worth a look. But even if you could not make a profit by creating a Safety Compliance environment, just knowing that you have done all you can do to prevent accidents in you company and possibly save a life is worth it.

One more comment I would like to make in parting. The companies that work hard to get and keep their ducks in a row when it comes to safety, tend to be some of the more profitable companies around. The reason for this is simple it takes discipline to create an atmosphere that meets the requirements of Safety Compliance. If a company can be disciplined in that area, chances are they will also be disciplined in other areas as well.
